    Having doubts about my choice!

KLS, I see a ten pound weight loss in about 20 days, that adds up to 1/2 pound per day. I don't think you can ask for better than that. I know it comes off faster with bypass than with my lap band but it look s to me like you are being too hard on yourself. Remember that 60-80 Grams of protein...

    Protein Shake recipes

Stick it in the fridge and have some later or the next day. Most will keep in the fridge. I often make mine at night for the next day. Also by waiting a while you won't get any or at least fewer air bubbles in your shakes. Most of these you could halve the amounts for smaller shakes. Thanks for...

    In my head

Angela, Just make sure you get your protein and fluids and walk a lot. the weight will come off. Stick with it and you will see. Don't automatically assume you did something wrong because you probably didn't if you are following your plan from the hospital. Joy

Toning exersize (or anything else) to prevent skin sagging

I was told to wait two years after reaching your goal weight to decide or check into plastic surgery because at times some skin toning will return. I know I will have sagging skin and since I am almost 70 I am just not going to worry about it. I don't think toning exercises help in the skin...

    constipated

Hi Renie, My center recommends a chewable fiber laxative. Each center is different. Some people on here use Milk of Magnesia and some have mentioned Miralax. I just picked up a generic fiber laxative that is berry flavored and quite pleasant and works well. Personally, I think senakot is a bit...

    Hmmmmmmm

I had my surgery in Pensacola at Sacred Heart Hospital Weight loss surgery center. I did not get a book per se but I attended two classes on Nutrition and the nutritionist has given everyone her phone number. To date I have not needed to call. Also, I had to pass a test on nutrition before she...

    Throwing Up

I have recently found that certain foods do not agree with my pouch and I will throw up. I have a lap band and I think I may have reached my max for fills. However, it seems to be related to the time of day, and whether the food is hot or cold, and as to how fast I ate it and if I don't chew it...

    My first real plateau

Kim, I do believe that if you stick with your program the weight will eventually start to come off again. Everyone has plateaus. It's like your body taking a break to catch up. Of course I think you will do better (as will I) when you can get in the walking or other exercise. Walking is so hard...

What's the most recent book you've read?

I just finished "Threat Vector" by Tom Clancy. Started a new one by an author I've never read before called "Abuse of Power" by Micheal Savage. I understand he is pretty good. I get a lot of free Kindle books and pay for only the ones I really want.

Surgery Monday the 7th! & question on traveling

First, which surgery are you having done? How much weight are you intending to lose? I think you need to be well on your way to goal before leaving for a developing country just in case anything goes wrong and you might not have access to reliable medical care. I would wait until I knew what...

    New here

Wow, you really are doing good. I had to lose almost half of my weight toward goal before I could really see or feel a difference. The one thing I did notice is that clothing was looser and then I had to start buying new underwear. Then I knew I was losing weight and getting healthier. It takes...

Help.....which protein shake should I use??

Shakes are a matter of personal preference, I think. I use the whey protein recommended by my surgery center which is UNJURY. I keep on hand The Carb advantedge by EAS purchased usually at Walmart (recommended by another Forum member) and Premier which they sell at SAMS. They are both premixed...

ongoing issue since surgery in June

My surgery center recommends a chewable fiber laxative and it works for me. Every once in a while I use MOM. Also if I don't drink enough during the day I will become constipated.

Food suggestions - 3 weeks out - please!

Hi dragonfly, I loved the smoothies and often made one with half a banana in it. My blender was busy in the beginning. In the mornings that was about what I could tolerate. My fav recipe was 8 ounces skim milk, 1/2 banana, one scoop of vanilla unjury. You can use any protein of your choice...

Feeling Normal Again... But With One Issue

mmccarty, Like you, I did not see the weight loss everyone else saw but I really sat down and looked at my reason for surgery and decided it was to get healthy. Accept the compliments for what they are intended. You deserve them. It was so much easier once I started being able to walk better...
