I had problems during/after surgery in the hospital. I've also had a few problems shortly after.
Several odd things have been happening which all seem to be brought back to the stomach area.
Last week I had pain in my chest. went to the urgent care was transferred to the ER. Urgent care sent the EKG showing heart rate at 174 dropped to 55. ER didn't find the changes in heart rate to be caused by a cardiac issue , but said to go see a cardio for stress test to be sure.
Friday, it started. I have lost my appetite. I'm dehydrated although I keep trying to push fluids, my hand are like a wrinkled old lady. dry heaves, feels like something is stuck in my throat, the dry heaves keep happening. I smell/taste almost something metallic or chemical. I am nauseous and my stomach burns at the sides/front and under the rib cage going across. the nausea is non-stop, dizzy and ringing in my ears. I have feelings of heat waves. The air conditioner is on; When I am experiencing a heat wave the air conditioning is of no use. when the heat wave stops I can instantly feel the cool air.
The heat wave can last an hour or more, my hair sticks to my face and neck, my clothes are damp and that uncomfortable sweeting at the back of the knees and bend of the elbow. After a considerable length of time, it dies down. My face gets cool to the touch and very clammy. That is when I know it's over. When I get up I am dizzy. I also have been having diarrhea although my appetite is gone. I did eat the lower half of a baked chicken breast around 2pm. that hasn't come up. The only thing in two days. My body has been trying to vomit for a few days accomplishing nothing more than dry heaves, no fluids just sporadic flashes of sudden nausea & dry heaves, no fluid or what I call tiny bubbles/foam either.
My recent blood test showed serious anemia.
My doctor said to me, to my surprise, there is only one reason a woman is anemic and that is because of her period. Since you don't have that, what are you doing to cause this? I'm still trying to figure that one out. How does one deliberately cause anemia? I have been placed on Iron 2x a day.
My heart starts to race often through the day since the ER visit but I don't feel it bursting out of my chest as I did then.
Now that I am looking at all these developing symptoms, remembering the warning signs of perforated roux-en-y gastric bypass I am concerned there may be a hidden bleed.
Wondering if after all these years something has happened to bring all this on at the same time. Could it have torn, developed an ulcer. something else related to the surgery I am not aware? Any one else on this site who had a bypass years ago and discovered recent problems.
To the reply below. sorry for the two typos. and s/b at; er s/b ER (although on mine it did show ER but when I hit edit the post did show er as you said) I went through menopause at 43 and I am 60 now.
