1st week post-op

I had RNY surgery on Monday. I came home on Tuesday. It's now Thursday and I am getting my 64 oz of water and 80 grams of protein. I am walking around with no trouble (I was walking alot before surgery so that has helped). Other than getting a little full after the protein shakes, no stomach issues.
My question is this: what am I missing? I know it's not going to be like this forever, but I am not seeing the issues I was warned about. I'm not trying to brag, but I am nervous about what may be around the corner.

Hey taxman the only problem I’m having right now is being really weak .Mostly in the morning or if I go to a store or a short walk. Not sure if I’m getting enough water I get full after the first protein shake then it’s hard to get down the water and the other protein shakes.Other than that I’ve got neck and back pain. Maybe you’ll get lucky and not have any bad experiences.Sounds like you’re doing pretty good

Thanks for sharing. I’m having surgery on 12/16 and was told that I could only sip 1 oz every 10 mins. I calculated and it would take me 11 hours to finish 64 oz of fluids. How did you do it?
Hi Flowersz - You quickly get into the habit of taking sips all day long. It's easier than it sounds to hit your goal. I was never told to only drink an ounce every 10 minutes but it was probably only about that for the first few days. After that, I could easily drink more at a time and didn't need to wait that long between sips. Everyone is different and you shouldn't go faster than advised but I'm thinking that is just a guideline for the very beginning. But please check with your doctor on that. :)

I know what you are talking about. I feel like going into this, I was ready for the worst case scenario. But after surgery, even before I left the hospital, I actually wondered if the dr did anything lol. I didn't get hungry, I didn't ever feel full, besides one of the incisions having some minor pain, I really felt like it was all wrong. But I am now almost 3 months out and things are still going smoothly. I think in the beginning we zero in on all the problems that could happen and assume it will be us. But in reality, those problems don't happen as often as we think. Something may come up down the line, but it sounds like you are another "best case scenario" :)

Thanks for the words of encouragement. I have been working on thinking of the positives but sometimes the old habit of what ifs gets the best of me. I’m so thankful for this group that gives me reminders of the power of positive thinking.

LOL everybody it not the same. if you look around in this group you will find. Some members breeze right through others like myself have minor issues. Keep up with the good work you are doing with your intake and vitamins

My wife had a Dr appointment today so I stepped on the scale for the first time since surgery. DOWN another 10 lbs!!! I'm about to burst with excitement. This puts me at 30 lbs down since the surgery was scheduled!
CONGRATULATIONS! :)
