5 day pouch test

Has any one completed the five day pouch test? I've gained about half of my weight back and want to give it a try. I'm wondering how it has worked for others.

Hi Stef, Welcome. Send PM to "feastorfamine" (Patti) on this site, I have not heared from her in a few days but she checks in now and then, she started back on track this winter and is doing well. It works but you have to follow all the rules. Tom

At the top of this page or the welcome page there are a few options you can click on Your screen name. notifications (thats where you can retrieve messages and like alerts), my profile settings, and log out, click on the unser name and it will take you to your home screen, on the left hand side of that there is a private message option click on that and in type whoever you want to message into the recipient line. Look for a message. Tom

Hi Stef,

The nurse who runs the program at my bariatric center started to regain her weight and knew something was wrong. She eventually got a lapband so she has both a bypass and a lapband. My surgeon says there is now a new procedure where he can go in by mouth like an EGD and make your pouch smaller so you will continue to lose weight. I think I would prefer to do that rather than get a lapband on top of bypass, but it was not available when she needed it. I can't remember what it is called at the moment but maybe check into that. Joy

Thanks Joy. That is good information. I want to exhaust all my options before I look at another procedure. But it is good to know all that is out there.

What is the 5 day pouch test? Im gaining weight back too :( would you mind telling me what that test entails? Thanks, Renae

Renae, it is a eating plan that lasts 5 days. I haven't tried it yet, but it sounds good. If you can't find info onit here on this website just google 5 day pouch test and the details should come up. Let me know how it goes if you try it.

Hi Renae, Welcome. You are only about a year and a half out your sleeve should still be in good shape it takes a lot of discomfore in eating to stretch it out. Have you tried journaling all your meals, when you eat, how much protien, how many calories, fat and carb content, and portion sizes (serving recomendation on labels). Sometimes we run into bumps in the road on this journey we have chosen to take and we start going back to bad habits or grazing on foods because we are bored and not really hungry, I have been there, however my bigest stumbling block was alcohol:eek: but I could write a whole blog on that and barely touch the suface:eek: Try limiting your daily intake on calories and carbohydrate and increasing your intake on protien. I will include the following link on the 5 day pouch test but it is much like the stage one meal plan for RnY patients: http://www.americanbariatrics.org/content.php/80-Roux-en-Y-Gastric-Bypass-5-Day-Pouch-Test If you have a local support group I would also recomend going to those meetings at least once a month they can be very helpfull and they usually have wonderful meal and execise tips.

Your doing a great job on your weight loss you are down 113 ponds in a year thats great:D You will be back on track in no timeI hope my advice was of some help to you. Tom
