6 weeks post op

6 weeks post of gastric bypass and I’m frustrated and disappointed because I feel I haven’t lost a lot of weight. The day of my surgery July 28th I weighted 294 and last week I was 274. I haven’t been able to walk a lot, only around the house or my yard because I’m dealing with some open ulcers in my legs that really limit my mobility since my leg gets swollen and is so painful. Eating soft foods have been a challenge because I Have been getting sick with really bad cramps and vomit. I’m eating 500-600 calories a day. I can tolerate broccoli cheddar soups, chicken broth, hard boiled eggs, and tuna but I’m getting tire of the same foods everyday. I tried rotisserie chicken, fish fillet, chicken salad, a turkey sandwich with a toasted bread, watermelon, but my stomach didn’t tolerate it and had awful stomach pain and made me vomit. I’m beginning to regret my decision Because before the surgery I had awful stomach pains Every time I ate because of my umbilical hernia and now I don’t have the hernia since they repair it the same day of my bypass but I still have those awful pains bc of the bypass. So I feel like I’m cursed to live with some pain all the time!

Lulu, I am so sorry to hear that you are having such a hard time. When do you have a follow up visit with your surgeon or your weight loss doctor? Make sure you address these issues with him/her and ask for nausea medication. If you don't have an appt. soon, call. They can call you in a prescription and make you an appt. to address the lingering pain. I think that would be the main issue right now. You said last week, which would have been 5 weeks post-op, you had lost 20lbs. That's 4lbs a week. That IS good. What isn't good is that you're in pain and you're nauseous all the time. Maybe you could try some other types of soups, or softer foods to at least change it up until you can get some meds from your doctor. Yogurt, cottage cheese, sugar free pudding, mashed cauliflower/sweet potatoes/turnips etc. You can add a scoop of protein powder to any of these to bulk up protein if you're low. I hope you feel better soon.

Thank you Missy. I have an appointment with my surgeon tomorrow Wednesday. I’ll address this issues with him. Thanks for the food recommendations. I’m suppose to start on regular food this week but I’m scare of eating anything new hopefully I’ll get some answers tomorrow.
