6 years after

Hey there my name is Jennifer and I am 6 years post op. I dropped 100 in 6 months and it stopped. In the past 4 years I have gained 40 of it back and am scarred to death. I have had all the blood work dont and am now taking all my vitamins like a good girl. My thyroid is not right but I am on the meds. I have not chained my eating habits to much still have to eat in small portions. Can anyone help me out.. what are some of the things that I can do.....Thanks

Jennifer-You should probably get back in touch with your nutritionist for a consult. Make a food journal to track your calories and protein and take it with you. You will probably be given direction to keep your calories at a certain amount, reduce the carbs, get at least 60 grams of protein daily and increase your exercise. My weight loss slowed down considerably after 5 or 6 weeks and I had to do everything I just mentioned. I am supposed to maintain 800 calories a day but find it extremely difficult and usually end up between 900 to 1,000. My energy level also falls when I eat only 800 calories, especially with a very low carb diet. I am losing weight slowly but at least I'm losing so I am happy. I thought the weight loss would happen more quickly but this is the hand I was dealt so I have to live with it.

Hang in there, see a nutritionist and get yourself back on track. You worked hard to get where you are and you can lose more weight with just a little more effort :) Come back to the forum to let us know how you are doing.

Hi Jennifer, Welcome. Like Pat said, do all that:) the only thing I can add is if you have stopped excersising start setting aside at least 30 minutes a day for yourself to do something, it can be walking, weights, aerobics, , drink lots of water, make sure you are not drinking water for 30 to 45 min before you eat and 45 min to an hour after your meal, that is something that can help quite a bit. Call your nutritionist or one that specializes in bariatric patients and if you have a support group near by go to some of those there is usually good information and maybe there is someone there you can start working out with. Tom
