Struggling with depression and ocd. I am very restricted with what I can eat. The morning bathroom routine is awful and takes hours.
I have lost 100 lbs so far-20 more and I will be at my goal. I don't have solid stools. I take my vitamins and try to focus on the protein intake. I feel like I can't leave the house until late acternoon, as it takes me hoing 2-3 times with 2-3 hrs in between bm's before I am empty. I haven't left the house in 5 months!Anna, I think depression is one of the known possible side effects from bariatric surgery. You should first call your surgeon, then call a mental health professional or your doctor to find out if there's a way you can be helped out of the depression. But know this: You Are Not Alone.
Would you like to tell us how your weight loss has been? If it's not something you feel you should share, could you say a bit more about the morning bathroom routine?
Here's a hug for you:

Thank youYeah I heard that diarrhea was another possible side effect of bariatric surgery. Now I hope I'm not getting into your business here because I want to assume that your doctor knows about this problem and you're being treated for it. But if that's not the case, I just have to reiterate see your doctor. No one should have to live like that. That's not the reason that you got the surgery so you could have loose stools
You lost a hundred pounds in 8 months? It took me 14 months to lose 115. Wow. Congratulations! I'm also tempted to say, with a weight loss that fast, that may be the reason for your digestive trouble.
Suggesting that someone with a problem see a doctor is always a good piece of advice. I hope you will. I think that you could have some serious health problems relating to your trouble with evacuating your bowels. But I'm not a doctor and I'm not going to diagnose you. Just want to say please call your family doctor, or your surgeon.⛤

Diane,
I'm confused your needing hours to empty because of diarrhea with hours in between? Aside from adjusting to the weight loss surgery, have you been under the weather? Have you had blood work done yet ? I know there's the dreaded "dumping syndrome". But from my understanding that only occurs when we eat a sugar, caffeine, alcohol , fried foods etc. How long ago was your surgery.? I would suggest going to your primary, surgeon and nutritionist as I'm finding each contributes their own essential piece to the journey .
in 5 months!
