My name is Holly and I had the gastric sleeve procedure done in June, 2019. I'm adjusting well to the changes but there definitely have been challenges along the way. Post surgery, I suffered the worst gas pain imagined (as I'm sure most of you have experienced), along with chronic fatigue, and a sharp pain my stomach that hurt everytime I sat down or got up from a sitting position. The surgeon said my stomach muscles were sore. I developed cellulitis, which was treated with antibiotics but the oral liquid antibiotics resulted in oral. Needless to say, the beginning was awful; however seeing the weight come off definitely helped soften the blows. I had trouble eating pureed food when I got to that stage and solids took a little longer to tolerate than expected but eventually I progressed enough to keep food down well. There are certain foods that upset my stomach (carbs) but those are the foods I really shouldn't be eating anyways. I still struggle getting all of my protein goals in daily and definitely need to consume more water but I'm a work in progress...I admit it. I love the scale victories but I love the non scale victories just as much. I love wearing smaller sizes, shopping off the racks and not just online, and being more active. I still have a long ways to go in my journey but that's okay because it's worth the wait to accomplish goals. I started this journey seven months ago at 440lbs. I currently weigh 320lbs. My next goal is to get into the 200s. I have good weeks and rough weeks but it's all part of the journey. I'm proud of where I am now but even more excited to see where I will end up! Congratulations to anyone who has had surgery and good luck to those considering it
