Yesterday I hired someone to help me for an hour a day on Mondays/Wednesdays/Fridays for 4 weeks while I recover. I'm fiercely independent so it took a lot for me to admit that I'll need help. But I won't have use of my arms or core so living alone is going to be a real challenge. At least now I know I can have my hair washed and sheets changed every other day to prevent infections. Surgeon said I'll be able to shower on my own, just not lift my arms for hair. My "helper" will also take out the trash, bring up grocery deliveries and run the vacuum when time allows. I found her on care.com. She works PT at a nursing home and also helps her husband with his cleaning business. So she's comfortable with both washing my hair and household chores. It's going to be a big help!
Relatively cheap too, since I'm limiting it to 3 hours per week. My sister, brother & nieces will pop in on weekends so I'll have more help then. If I offer the nieces each $10, I'm sure I can get a lot of work out of them, hehe.
Stocked up on frozen meals & lots of soup, paper plates and all my first aid supplies this weekend.
Ducks are starting to line up for me.
