Hi. Has anyone post gastric bypass been cleared by their surgeon to drink wine or any alcohol again? I'm 5 months out and have not. Prior to surgery I rarely had any alcohol, but it would be nice to occasional little bit.

How is that going for you? Is that something you tried on your own or did your surgeon add it to the list of ok things?
Alcohol was absolutely forbidden per my Doc. I was told the likelihood of triggering an addiction is greatly increased post-op. A friend of mine who never had an issue with alcohol became a raging drunk after surgery and has been struggling to get sober since...she had the surgery 15 years ago. She's lost custody of her children and everything. She is a stark reminder why I don't want to tempt fate. Also, I'm in long-term recovery from other substances. No way I'm reliving that nightmare.
