All but one test done

I am anxiously waiting to have my last pre-op test done. The dr's office told me 6 weeks ago they'd call me when I am to have the endoscopy. I haven't gotten a reason for the wait. Is this normal? I have never had one before. Since everything else is done, how long may one wait before having the surgery? Am I being unreasonably impatient?

Penelope-Since I didn't have an endoscopy I can't answer your question but I want to welcome you to the forum. I hope you like it here so you come back to visit. We are a friendly and non-judgemental bunch who like to help each other out. Make sure to keep us posted on your endoscopy.

Penelope, I had my endoscopy right after I saw the surgeon (within a few weeks from beginning the process). I think they're forgotten about you, make the call!

yes make a call. There is nothing to it other than nothing to eat after midnight the night before, they medicate you so you DO NOT KNOW anything that is occuring. Best of Luck, hope you get your precedure soon!

Thank you for the kind welcomes.

I start my liquid diet on Sunday, the endoscopy is oct. 10, and I will be on the books for surgery the 18th or 19th.

I totally forgot about this!

Sandie, my doctor requires one for all of his patients. For the most part he was checking to see if I had a hiatal hernia. Since I posted. I've had the endoscopy and I actually have a small hernia. They are supposed to fix it when they do my surgery.

Everything has fallen into place. Surgery is October 30th!

Penelope-Congratulations on your surgery date :) :) :) You must be very excited. Make sure to keep us posted on your progress.

Penelope,

Welcome to the Forum and best of luck on your journey. My Doctor requires an endoscopy before WLS to check for several things. They need to make sure your esophagus is ok, mine was slightly spasmodic but OK. Also they check for the hiatal hernias (I had two) but also they check the opening at the end of stomach especially for a lapband so they know if you are emptying too slowly or too fast. They do some ulcer testing as well and take a biopsy if needed.
