Asking for help

I wonder if many of you had the similar experiences of wondering how we got to this point and taking the step to seek out help. Before going down the surgery route I was seeing the weight gain and it gave me anxiety. I had my second child had postpartum depression and the world was in chaos. Still I talked to my doctor and every visit the number climbed and I resorted to old habits. Limiting my food intake living off caffeine ignoring my needs and putting everyone else before me. The number kept rising and the doctors would just say you have a lot on your plate when you have time you can work on yourself. I wanted to see if there were other options like medications that could help and all I got was wait. I waited the weight kept rising and I finally just said enough and sought the help I needed elsewhere. I felt frustrated I did the diets and workouts and the weight never went past 20 pounds. Years of yo-yo dieting and feeling guilty when it didn't stay off. Surgery gave me the tools I needed and I'm looking forward to getting this under control. I just wish I wasn't ignored when I brought up my concerns and had some more help from the start.
