Atkins meals

It entirely depends on what your program requires for your pre-surgery diet. I had to do a 2 week liquid diet. I know others did not have to do a 2 week pre-surgical diet at all.
In general, I am not a fan of any pre-packaged meals and am not a fan of the extremely low carb diets. But again, whatever your surgical program approves is what you should eat.

Every bariatric team is different, every patient is different. My surgeon always requires a 2 week presurgery diet, until me, that is. I was his first patient that didn't have to do it!

So ALWAYS do what your team tells you to do, not what someone here did or is doing. There is always a reason for the choices your team makes. If you are uncomfortable with your bariatric team's choices now, you should change bariatric teams before you let them open you up and reroute your digestive system.

Thank you!

I'm not a fan of any food that is processed that much and stripped of most of the good things that food can do for you, BUT pre-surgery such meals can be very helpful to stick to a plan. As others have mentioned, it depends on what the expectations are from your bariatric clinic. They may want you to do something different. My clinic steered me toward whole food meals like salmon, brown rice, and veg or similar meals and snacks, but some people are asked to do more intense diets or even several days of a liquid diet.

Some people don't have to do anything special at all, but that is pretty rare. Usually they want to try to shrink the liver a bit prior to surgery to make access to the stomach safer, but not everyone has a super huge, fatty liver.
