Brand new from PA

Hello,

I am brand new to the forum and I am very happy to be here! I have just decided to have WLS and started my journey about 3 weeks ago. I am very excited and terrified so any advice would be wonderful. For now just wanted to say hello and thanks for being here!

Hi there, welcome to the forum. Great group here and you will get great advice. I started my process in January, but joined here in either March or April, I can't remember now. I have been nervous, scared, anxious and this is all normal to feel this way. What procedure are you planning or have you decided yet? I am having the duodenal switch sometime in the next 6 weeks. Do everything that the surgeon and nutritionist tell you, and make sure you get samples of various protein drinks that way you can try them out now so you will know if you like them. I am told that some people don't like the taste of their protein after surgery, and some have a hard time drinking it at first. The important thing is to stay hydrated and drink your fluids slowly so you don't have extra pain. Please keep us posted.

Hi Terri, Welcome. Have you decided on what surgery you are having yet, if you haven't make sure you look at all the pro's and con's of each type and start going to a local support group meeting in your area if you have on, that is a great place to talk with lots of folks and see how they are doing post op at months to years out. Good luck, let us know how you are doing. Tom
