Changes in bowel habits

Prior to surgery, I add chronic constipation. I finally found a prescription that works reliably. But bowel movements were always loose and watery. So I really don't know what to expect now that I am post-surgery. I'm not able to judge if I should be taking my medication or not. Is there anyone else out there who had chronic constipation before surgery? What is your experience post-surgery? If your bowel habits for normal and you didn't have any other health issues going on that would affect your bowels oh, how did surgery affect you?

I was always “regular” before surgery. Going to the bathroom once a day…. After surgery - I go once every 2-3 days. I’m six months out from surgery and just recently stopped taking the stool softeners/MiraLAX. Every once in a while if I start to feel bloated I may have to go back and take some thing. We shall see….
