Hi Tasha,

Did the person also have her gallbladder removed in the surgery? It's done a lot these days.

I had to have emergency gallbladder surgery about 6-7 months before my RNY surgery. That did a number on me, I would have emergency "run to the bathroom" situations out of the blue a couple times a day. That has only recently gotten better, about a year after it was removed. I don't believe my weight loss surgery added anything to it but I could be wrong. Either way, it was temporary, thank goodness!

Oh thanks for the information..I'm not sure if she had the gallbladder surgery or not lol but I was just wondering...
On the opposite side, I've read that a lot of people on this site had to deal with constipation. I consider myself lucky for having the opposite issue. ;)

I had my gallbladder out with the bypass and what your friend says is true! Those emergent situations lasted about 2 weeks. Then when that passed I was constipated for about 10 days till everything got moving again. Now things are back to normal.

I still have my gall bladder and I get it two years later still.

I had my gallbladder out years before RNY and I had the run to the bathroom issue and it got better over time. Certain foods definitely made it worse(fried foods).
I have been pretty regular since surgery with a couple of run to the bathrooms but I think I connected that to milk.
I know it is easier said than done but try not dwell on those issues. I think most people have constipation rather than the other.
Best of luck to you.
