Did anyone have any issues with coffee after their VSG surgery? I’ve heard some people getting back on coffee like a few days after surgery and wondering how realistic that is? I’ve also heard of people having bad stomache issues with it, although I would assume that’s more for gastric bypass patients. I’m a year post op and have just never gotten back into coffee but it’s something that I’m considering again. I just really miss my morning coffee while reading before getting my day started.

Try decaf and let me know

I did about a third of a cup with just a touch of splenda, and no issues, but did definitely get a little caffeine buzz haha

I had gastric sleeve surgery, and I find a cup of coffee daily helps regulate my bowel movements.
Apparently, Im not drinking enough water because it fills me up so quickly. So, caffeinated coffee really makes a difference.

I was told "no coffee," but no good or logical reason for it. I've heard this for the last 50 years and I file it under the "following the loudest" category. I only drink one cup of coffee a day, in the morning and it's delicious and doesn't get me fidgety. I'll NEVER stop drinking it unless I want to. I'd rather have a perfect cup of coffee than some gooey dessert. I know some people drink it without thinking, but to me, it's like drinking a fine wine. I buy beans of various roast levels, keep them in airtight decanters, measure them precisely and make fresh coffee daily. And my post-op numbers have never been less-than-fabulous.

I think what's important with ANY food or drink or fruit or vegetable you want is what it does to your body. Honestly, same thing with using sugar or honey or fats. I say, Listen to your body and any relevant blood or organ tests. Then make an informed decision that really relates to your specific health.

You sound like you should be running your own little coffee shop! I would stop by everyday and buy one of these coffees from you haha.

I have started back on my morning coffee and loving it. Just a small black coffee for now, but I still love it.

I know this sounds childish but I can't go potty without a morning cup. I love all kinds, but a strong small cup of Greek mud is my favorite.

I can only have decaf until 3 months per the doctor. I have had some and mixed in my unflavored protein. I use to love coffee. Not so much now. We will see when I get caffeine back.

I've stayed decaff only for over 2 years. I think the reason the caffeine is discouraged is because it can dehydrate you.
