Cornbread

Has anyone tried to eat a slither of it? How was the experience?

I love cornbread! My husband loves fried cornbread. My kids love hush-puppies. So when I fix "cornbread" I make myself a very small personal cornbread - it's maybe 5 bites - it's all I can eat. Then I fix my husband and girls hush-puppies and fried cornbread.

Whether you can eat it and not have issues will depend on where you are in the post-op process and what you're allowed to eat. It'll also depend on how your body reacts to new foods. I don't do well with bread at all. It's a crap shoot to figure out what you can and can't tolerate.

I have truly cooked more during all the quarantine - than I have in the last 20 years. It's probably good the quarantine hit after I had WLS - because what I'm cooking now is so much healthier than it was before WLS.

We will all have different reactions to different foods, so the best thing to do is start small and experiment. I have had only one bad reaction to any food I've tried so far, and that was cheese, and it happened only once. Other than that, I have been able to eat whatever I want. That being said, I don't eat just anything. I eat mostly plant based, with some meat/fish/eggs periodically, and on very rare occasions, corn bread or real bread, and things like that.

My point is....just try some and see how it goes. You may have a very good experience or a bad experience. How other people react may be way different than you. Also, if you have a bad experience once, wait a few weeks and try it again and it could be okay. That is what happened with me and cheese.

As with everything, moderation is key. Stay away from trigger foods that may encourage you to eat more than you should or that provide dense calories in small amounts. If you are able to have a small piece of cornbread and be satisfied with that, then go for it. If you are tempted to go back and eat more, and more, then stay away from it for now.

I dont like corn bread so wouldn't. I occasionally will put a couple of pieces of biscuit in with some pot pie juice or a bit of bred in with some tuna or something like that. Even when I do that I use no more then 1/8 of a biscuit or piece of light bread and even at that I dont eat it all and I make sure it is very most. I have only dont this 1-2 a week for the past 2 weeks and it has not sat well and likely won't be trying it again for a few weeks. Doesnt matter how moist it is for me, my stomach just doesn't like it.

I tried the Kodiak "protein" cornbread version... the texture is really not great, and the family did not care for it. I think I will stick to a bite of really great cornbread when I have the opportunity in the future. I do make fried mush (sounds gross, but it is really yummy), and started adding collagen protein to the mix before pouring it in to set up.
