Data, Lists, and Glossary 2026

Hello :),

I am writing to request group members to share their lists of best protein shakes, foods, and coping strategies with us all.

Furthermore, I would like people to share their do's and don'ts with us... pre-op and post-op advice.

Finally, I hope people, or maybe one experienced veteran member, will make/share a glossary of terms, abbreviations, acronyms, and procedures with us.

Not only will this help me so very, very much because I'm a newbie to this support group and I'm still very much at the beginning of this weight loss journey (I have not had surgery yet), but I hope it will help everyone in here.

I'd be so grateful for this data and advice. Thank you! :)

Have you checked out our front page? I think most people miss it:

It doesn't have everything you're looking for, but it has a lot. Also, using the SEARCH feature in the upper right corner and entering a keyword like RNY, RYGB, DS, etc., will turn up hundreds of posts that use these terms, and in many cases, define these terms.

Im definitely still trying to beat navigate this support group site, so I keep up with conversations, learn from as many of you as possible, and make sure to reply to people with zero replies so far or no replies in a while.

Here is what I think I've figured out...

1. I start with my emails each day and read those conversations first.
2. I "follow" people and threads, so I can keep track of how they're doing and feeling, and reply regularly to them to offer support and encouragement.
3. In the menu, I click on posts with no answers, so I can reply to those people.
4. I click on the red signal on the bell up top to see likes and replies from people.
5. In the menu, I click on "What's new?"
6. I use the search button to look up topics I'm interested in.

There are probably many more ways to better figure out how to successfully use this site, but those steps above have helped me. Maybe they can help other newbies.
