Im fretting over what to eat. I am post-op and my surgery was December 11th 2019. Yes i know just weeks out but other than protien shakes i just dont know what to eat. I dont have a post op appt. with my diatician for about 2 and half weeks so can anyone give any suggestions

Did your dietitian give you a plan until your first post-op appointment? Are you still only on the full liquid stage until you meet again?

No, only what i got wirh discharge papers. I dont see diatician until January 23 (something i could not understand) so i am very eager to see her. But no to your question about full liquid. Soft foods was to be incorperated at 14 days

Ok good. Have you tried yogurt, soft cheese (Laughing Cow is what I started with), scrambled eggs, mashed potatoes?

That's early. If it works for you, great! I transitioned to pureed foods at 14 days. Then was in pureed for 3 weeks before soft. I think you could safely try applesauce. I'd suggest babyfood but I found it gross. Mashed banana with some peanut butter mixed in was another love of mine.

Yeah, I bought baby food but found it gross too so ended up donating it all. The banana/peanut butter is a good one.

I felt so bad that I gave that baby food to my son!
Hahahaha... think of it as an advance punishment for future behavior. ;)

Well yes your correct it was to be puree type foods which to me means soft. But i possibly incorperated some soft a week too soon. But today its nothing more than just that soft....yogurt, mashed potatoes( well sweet potatoes mashed) jello, sugar free pops, farina, oatmeal. But i did do some mac n cheese like an ounce and chicek and rice soup about an ounce. I feel like avery day is a journey into a place unknown lol

Sounds like besides the mac & cheese & chicken & rice soup, you're on track. I'm surprised you were able to tolerate those, my stomach still has trouble with pasta & rice at 9 1/2 months! I couldn't tolerate bread until 6 months. I still can't do sandwiches with bread on both sides, need to be "open-faced" on a single slice of bread. Just try to baby your new stomach. It's definitely bland but you'll be thankful that you did. And bonus, the weight will likely fall off since you won't be eating any of your old favorites. You've got this!

I bought some baby food and on the day that I came home from the hospital, I decided I was going to eat the turkey baby food. I was on the phone with my sister and even said out loud, "Don't put in the microwave oven". Well, in my head I thought what I read was "Don't put in a toaster oven." So I proceeded to place it in the microwave and heat it for 30 seconds. I pulled it out and went to stick a spoon in it to stir it up.... And boom! The food exploded out of the jar and landed all over me, the cabinets, and the counter. I had a burn spots on my cheek, neck, and hand! I can totally laugh about it now, but that was the closest I came to eating baby food. I guess you could say I had a little PTSD from that incident and donated the rest to a friend lol. ;)
