Dental work after RNY

Dental work after RNY - I went to the dentist for the first time since my RNY - which was 14 months ago. They gave me the shot of novocaine to numb my mouth and as always a little of that nasty tasting stuff goes down your throat - As soon as it hit my stomach I felt sick - really bad stomach ache that lasted about 4 hours - I have never heard anything mentioned about this - has this happened to anyone else ?

Nope, I've had a few dental visits and never any nausea from swallowing anything, and I know I did, but that doesn't mean you aren't sensitive to it and that it was the cause. If you have to go back again, you might mention it to them and see if they can be a bit more aggressive sucking it out of there and/or try not to swallow and spit it out as much as possible.

I had that happen twice before surgery. Both times working on a root canal. I was under for a long time and they had to numb me up a couple times during the process. I think it's the effect of using too much nonvaccine and letting excess run down your throat. Like WazzuCoug said, spit that crap out and maybe next time you have to get numbed up tell them the stuff makes you nauseous if swallowed.
