I am 3 1/2 weeks post op RNY and have only lost 12 pounds since surgery. I'm getting recommended protein and fluids in, and walking 2 miles a day. Right now I'm feeling like I'll be the one person who doesn't lose weight after gastric bypass! Am I being unrealistic?
Hi Weighting, Welcome. Did you have the RnY or sleeve, just wondering doesnt really matter though Your doing fine you are averaging about 3.5 to 4 pounds a week thats really good I know that is next to impossable pre surgery. 2 miles a day is great you are probably starting to build some muscles now which will replace some of the fat you are losing and thats good because muscle burns calories more efficiently, it will take time for the body to catch up to all the changes. I think we all feel like "I am I going to be the one that this doesn't work for" I know I did, I also went through a phase where I felt like "what did I do to myself" those thoughts and feelings will soon disapear. Try not to worry to much your doing great. Tom
WEIGHTING-I also lose weight slowly but at least the scale is moving in the right direction. I did lose fast in the beginning when I was on the first 2 phases of the meal plan but after that my weight loss slowed down. Now I'm lucky if I lose 1 1/2 lbs. a week. My surgeon said 1 1/2 lbs. a week is average even though I think I should be losing more. Don't beat yourself up. We didn't gain our weight overnight and it's going to take a little time to lose it.
