Hello,
My experience is limited, however I just had the sleeve surgery on Thursday. I was happy my husband was home with me for the first couple of days. He went back to work today, Monday.
While I'm doing well, I can't lift more than 10 lbs. That includes pounds of pressure, like opening a low heavy drawer that sticks. He helped me with that. He carried the laundry downstairs for me. I wanted to do the laundry though, it felt good. I am walking around, and the more I move, the more the gas comes out. I was outdoors most of the day yesterday. Walking around the yard, then went to the park with hubby and pups. So 3 days out I was much improved. I'd be cautious about being alone with a baby though. If the baby/toddler falls and needs help, you can't lift that much weight for several weeks.
My surgeon prescribed Tylenol with Codeine for pain, and it's true, you probably will only use it for the first day or so. I read someone took Ibuprofen and I am shocked. That is an anticoagulant and can be dangerous after surgery.
I question wrapping something around my incision site without talking with the doctor. I didn't try it, and think it would put pressure on the incisions. I appreciate loose clothing now. My stomach is swollen, can't wait to watch it go down as it heals.
Best of luck!
