I'm two months out after RNY surgery, and foods that are cold or room temperature actually feel okay. Hot or warm foods make me nauseated. I can tolerate tomato juice and tomato pasta sauces, so my doc doesn't think I have an ulcer.
I had RNY in October and the only time I felt nauseated was when I ate too fast and when I tried to drink a protein shake. I'm not sure what the issue is, but you're still early into the solid foods, it may change. I would wait for a while and try again, maybe a broth or chili. Please let us know what you find out.
I have a band and I do not tolerate ice cold beverages or super hot foods at all. I can do cold from the tap and warm foods. Even the chili from Wendy's has to cool a bit before I can eat it. My pouch does not cooperate some days. It took me a while to figure it out and I am glad I did. I wait a few minutes before eating anything. I even have to let my coffee cool just a bit before I can drink it. Good luck. Joy
I just had nausea period. A lot of it was eating to fast or having eyes bigger than my stomach. It just took a period of time to just my food thinking to the realities of my new anatomy. I had to learn to think smaller.
I am having the problem right now that anything I eat (in the puree stage) just makes me feel nauseous and I have thrown up on 2 different occasions. It is making me want to just go back to clear liquids!! I felt better then than I do now. Needless to say "I hate food" !! I think maybe I am still eating too fast ...its just so hard to make such a small amount last so long. Ready to live off decaf tea and sugar free popsicles .. .. LOL
Hi SwtHrt7, Sounds like you know what the problem is. Now comes the hard part, changing a lifetime of behavior. I had the same issue and it took some time, but I'm good now. I don't eat as slow as recommended, still trying to get there, but I don't feel nauseous when I eat. This is a journey and you're still in the early part of it. Give it time and it will get better. Keep us up to date, we care.
Thank you all for your responses I've been very good with portion control. Its things like even hot or warm teas that make me nauseated. However, since I have logged in last, my doc has also taken me off of yogurt, and that has actually solved some of the nausea issues. I can now do warm foods and drink, just not hot yet. I think I became a bit lactose intolerant from the surgery.
