I’m about 4 weeks post op and every couple days I seem to crash. I have no energy and barely can get off the couch. Any suggestions?

Protein, protein, protein! You absolutely have to prioritize your protein consumption due to it being an imperative part of recovery. I was really weak and tired as well, but once I returned to work, I gained so much more energy! As long as you are taking your vitamins and reaching your protein/fluid goals, then it's a bit of mind over matter. Ya gotta force yourself out of bed and into action. I think you'll be surprised after a couple days of activity. Good luck!

I felt that way too. Pretty much the only solution was sugar free water flavors with caffeine. I tried everything my dietician recommended and nothing helped. Only good ole caffeine. I definitely felt a difference on days I tried to increase my calorie intake, but then how are you supposed to lose weight?

Everyone has a different recovery arc. But I felt extremely tired and listless for a few weeks after I had WLS. I think the best thing to do is just let yourself go slow and rest, take naps if you can, and realize that your body is recovering from surgery. That's a big deal! When some of the weight has come off, and you adjust your food intake, take vitamins and minerals, drink those 8 glasses of water, and even take measurements--neck, waist, upper arms, thighs--and keep a journal! You'll probably get really excited and find energy you never knew you had.
