Drinking enough water

This is harder to do. I make sure I am up early so I can get down 25 to 30 oz before I get into work. drink only on my 15 min I can get 10 oz down so between both I am at 35 to 40 and eat at my 30 min drink on my way home 20 oz. eat my dinner and 30 min after to bed time I have to get the rest in. It is very hard at first but as you can drink more this can be done. Talk with your Dr about this. I will say it took me longer than many to be able to get all my water in. Now I am 3.5 months out and do not have a problem. Most days

Welcome to the group. I think NewChallenge gave great advice. Just wanted to point out that right after surgery it will be very difficult to get all the water in regardless if work gets in the way. You will be able to gradually get up to where you should be with the adjustments as NewChallenge mentioned.

I'm not sure what kind of work you do, is there anyway an exception can be made in the first week or two?

I'm glad you are able to take off 3 weeks. By then I would think you would be able to handle more liquid at one time.

Your protein shakes will count towards your water intake, so probably you would want to have those on your breaks since you can't eat and drink at the same time.

My surgeon does not count the protein drink as water, just to make it a bit harder. LOL

Only one 15 min break makes it harder but I work a 14 hour shift most day so you can do this with an 8 hour shift. Also, give your self time to get up to 64 oz of water. It did take me longer then I was told to get that much but I was getting in the 50's each day. On my off days I made sure I get over just because. I still have days I can't get my 64 oz but I make sure it is not 2 days in a row.

You will find the way that works for you, Just know it will take time and do you.

You will find in this forum that there is a difference of opinion about what constitutes your 64 oz of water intake. So always follow your doctors recommendations. Some of us can count coffee as long as it doesn't contain caffeine. So different doctors give different guidelines. If you can get your water in without adding in other stuff, you are all the better for it! :)
