During my 1st week of gastirc bypass post-op, I had to really work at getting in 4 oz of a protein shake, often sipping for 20-30 minutes. Now after 9 days post-op, the shakes go down quick and easy. I have to remind myself to slow down and take smaller sips. Is this normal? Is this a good sign?
I do not see my Nutritionist until next Wednesday when I get to switch over to a puree diet, so just wondering if I'm not stretching it (no pun intended) too far. Also started having a daily yogurt or pudding this week and no probelm with finishing at one sitting.

Funny, I would have never seen this as a problem few ago.

Well, first from what I'hv seen, you can't stretch it normally and not in "9" days. I have my revision in Dec. Anyway, I think what might help you is to make yourself drink slower intentionally and not give up. This is a mind game and often your biggest obstacles. WLS is just a tool The stages are intended to give the best result for long-term success. For me, it's a lifetime of trying to make better daily choices. I'hv return to
journaling everything eaten and my thoughts. It's help me lose a little more weight. Just remember from now on you have a tool. However, it's not magic ✨
Keep writing and reaching out! Don't be afraid to also seek counseling!

Thanks! I'm not giving up, actually kind of happy about this turn of events. Thinking my gut is healing pretty good but was just wondering if others experienced this around 9 days. Never hungry right now so I know that desire for a bite of this or that is just my mind playing games. Rather amusing. However, looking forward to the puree phase next week just to placate my taste buds. :D

I was not able to finish a protein shake in one sitting for about 4 weeks and it still takes me about 30-45 minutes and I can definitely not eat a whole yogurt yet, but everyone has different tolerances. I would get nauseated or feel tightness at first but now it’s no problem. I would take it as a positive that you are able to do so well at this point. I think it’s great!
