First surgeon meeting

I had a zoom meeting with my surgeon this morning. He is going to have me do a swallow test, EGD, and ultrasound for my gallbladder. He'd prefer to take the gallbladder out at the time of surgery, but the insurance might not cover it if there's no recent proof of an issue. After the tests we'll meet again and he'll have a better idea of which surgery he recommends. After the surgery he'll have me take injections of lovenox for 30 days to prevent blood clots as a precaution because I have a genetic clotting condition called MTHFR. But it went very well, and the appointments will probably be done sometime in the next 6 weeks, so I’m feeling positive about things! (For now at least :p)

FYI, I had pains occasionally that might have been mild gallbladder attacks. I had enough of them to do research and to wonder if that was my problem, but was never diagnosed. My surgeon took mine out anyway, without even asking me. I mean, it's right there, and I had an open procedure and perhaps most importantly, rapid weight loss is a known cause of gall stones. Anyway, who knew? when they analyzed the organ it turned out I had FOUR good-sized stones in there. I think most surgeons argue for removal because of the inevitable stones you'll have as soon as the weight comes melting off.
My doctor did say if the insurance companies and the doctors could agree that it was necessary, he’d remove them in patient who could handle it. But right now it’s unclear on if the insurance would cover it, and I don’t want a surprise bill after the fact. Hoping the ultrasound shows something because I don’t want to have a second surgery.
