For the ladies

So I'm just shy of being six months post op and I am so happy with the surgery. I'm down almost 80lbs and still losing consistently about two pounds a week. (I could probably lose more if I exercised more). The one thing I'm struggling with is my period. I went onto birth control prior to getting the surgery and right after I seemed to have my period for almost a month straight. But that stopped and I thought everything was okay. Now I have been getting it about every other week. Has any one else experienced this? Any suggestions?

I did not, mine seems to be normal.
But a friend of mine who had WLS had the same problem. She had her for almost 3 months straight after surgery until they got it under control. I really don't know what they did to "fix" it, but I recommend you call your surgeon and/or PCP to get it figured out.
Your hormones are all out of wack from the surgery which is what causes the issue.
Good luck!

I had a similar situation. I got into my OBGYN as soon as I started having issues because I also have endometriosis. He suggested an ablation. I had it July 2021 and have not had a period since.

When I was 19 I tried taking the birth control pill. I was a late bloomer for menstruation, I was 17. So when I bled for three weeks on the pill and one week off I stopped that immediately. I was in the military at that time and women were not recognized as having different internal medical issues than men which is what most medicine is based on. I had hysterectomy in 95 so I haven’t had this kind of issue. I recommend listening to Diane after reading her post. Very well thought out and presented.
