Future gastric bypass

Hi, I'm new and in the beginning stages of getting ready for the gastric bypass. I am about 80 lbs over weight but I have diabetes, HBP and high cholesterol.
My doctor said that the bypass would be my best option for getting my diabetes under control. I currently take 4 diabetes meds, 2 cholesterol meds and one for HBP. He said I can do the sleeve or the bypass but bypass is what he thinks is best for my personal health status.
I think right now my biggest issue is that I am not the typical Type 2 diabetic as I developed diabetes in my late 20's and I only weighed about 140 lbs (5"1") at that time. We have a very strong family hx of diabetes on my mom's side whether over weight or not.
So, the doctor said that though the surgery will help me get off most of my meds, I will more than likely still have to take something for my diabetes due to the type of diabetes that I have.
Does anyone else on this forum have this similar situation?
Also, I think my two biggest fears are having constant diarrhea and I seen where some videos( which I probably should not watch) where people talk about having this constant, horrendous smelling gas years post surgery. Anyone have this issue as well?
I am going to the doctor at my next appointment about these fears. I just want to hear from people who may be in these same situations.
Thanks,

Thank you for the reply. That does sound like great results.
I do get thoughts in my head thinking ," oh man, i may never be able to eat German choc cake again or whatever the food may be".
I would hope that once the pounds start coming off and the meds reduced that maybe those thoughts will leave my head.
