Get ready for Surgery

Walk as soon as you are allowed. Sip-sip-sip that water! Abdominal binders are amazing during recovery. Good luck!!

Don't forget chapstick and some non slip slippers for when you walk around. Maybe loose pajamas or a robe. I've heard that coughing and sneezing hurt but the binders help with that pain. If you don't have one, hold a pillow to your stomach when you do to ease the tension

If you haven't done so yet, please check out the "latest resources" section just below the "new posts/latest posts." You will find past posts from members about shopping before surgery, their surgery experiences, and other helpful advice.

I had bought sugar-free already made jello, s.f. popsicles, beef & chicken broth, some protein shakes, Benefiber to avoid constipation, and Tylenol to help me with pain as I slowed down, then stopped taking pain meds after the third day.

Good luck and may you heal quickly and painlessly.

May! Congratulations on your upcoming surgery date. I was very nervous before my surgery, almost to the point of cancelling. When you get nervous, remind yourself of the reasons you are doing this. Remind yourself about how much healthier you'll be and how much better you'll feel. Which of course you don't know yet. But take my word for it. I didn't know how bad I actually felt until I felt this good. Good luck to you.
