Getting caught without

So I'm currently reintroducing foods into my diet. I've gone through all the stages and for work I typically pack a lunch to ensure I'm not without. Plus it's usually protein packed (eggs, cheese, chicken). However I got caught without the other day when a ride took me across the state and I was hungry (a new feeling, I had to ask myself a few times are you really hungry or do you just want to eat). As I was driving I was passing all my old haunts and realizing I didn't want to stop at any of them. I wound up stopping at a grocery store and picking up some shrimp which was perfect. But my question for all you people that have been doing this a lot longer. What are your go to places and things to order when you either find yourself without a meal and are hungry or traveling?

If I have to eat fast food, I go for Taco Bell pintos and cheese (perfect serving size). I sometimes get a fast-food cheeseburger with no bun, and get tomato & onions. I avoid anything deep-fried. Lots of places, i.e. Wendy's, have grilled chicken and salads. Baked fish & grilled shrimp at Captain D's, Arby's roast beef or turkey, Dairy Queen's rotisserie chicken, etc. also work. I rarely crave fast food, but now I can make better choices. Sounds like you are doing well. Good luck!

I like Chipotle for quick meals... you can get your bowl as a salad and add a ton of flavor.

I don’t do fast food well at all. I’m not a fan of ANY fast food. If I’m out and have no snack or protein shake - I’ll go to Lowes, Publix or any other grocery store to get a salad or something high in protein - I can buy 2 oikos 15g protein yogurts. Publix has a wonderful yogurt parfait - with fruit and granola. I’m better off not eating fast food. McDonald’s French fries are my kryptonite - I’ve had them maybe 5 times over the last 2 years.

I went on a 2-week road trip last summer. And very quickly found that fast food doesn't work for me very well. You can buy protein shakes, trail mix, almonds, protein bars and sometimes even hard-boiled eggs at a gas station or convenience store. That's mostly what I did for lunches and snacks. We stopped and ate at local restaurants for dinner.
