Today Is 2 Weeks Post Op!!
So I am doing exactly what my surgeon said, taking the 8 tsp benefiber is now causing liquid diarrhea. In 2 weeks I’ve lost 17 lbs. I think this should be more?? Am I being neurotic? Also, how do you know if you’ve stretched your pouch? I haven’t done anything that I am aware of, but I’m able to drink pretty freely. Thanks everyone!

Congrats on your 2 weeks. With all due respect: yes, you are being neurotic lol You have not stretched your pouch. Some of us have an easier time with our intake than others. I was positive in those first few weeks, (okay fine, months!), that my surgeon had given me the extra large version of the pouch. I finally decided to just be grateful I feel good and don't have any issues keeping food down. Think about that a second. Keeping food down. Drinking freely. Do you really want your intake coming back up?!? In the end, we're all going to have to watch what and how much we eat forever anyway. Consider it a head start. I am attaching an average weight loss chart that helped me get back to my average level of neurotic lol hope it helps. You're doing great!

We have such a fear-centric attitude toward what we put in our bodies. Whether we acknowledge it or not, overeating to the point of obesity is an eating disorder. It's essential to do the mental work. Otherwise, you're on a hamster wheel forever.

If you could shrink your stomach, you wouldn't need surgery.

Don't take risks. Be hyper-aware and be willing to take control.
Diane,
I hope you are feeling better after the horrible experience you had with the theft of your catalytic converter and the violation of your personal space.
I ALWAYS THINK OF YOU when I start to think about eating something, I say to myself (this is a Diane quote)
"Nothing tastes as good as being thin feels"
And it results in me getting a grip on myself and if I eat selecting something reasonable. It is wonderful to have a you along with your wealth of knowledge and experience, to emulate and learn from.
I have been worried about you feeling down and I so hope you feel better now or really soon.
Sharon

Sharon, that's so sweet of you to say! I'm so happy anything I can contribute helps anyone else on our shared journey. Isn't it shocking how little is really available in our society to learn from? I am so grateful for this group. Ive been here for 2 years and 3 months and hundreds of people have passed through. Even people who had difficulties dropped gems of wisdom on our path. This group is a true resource to the world. That's why I'm honored to be among you all.

I've been blessed with beautiful people among my resources--counselors, program coordinaters, social workers, family--and even though its a small group, its as precious as diamonds.

This group is the first thing I read in the morning and I feel connected to you all day long. I just spent a telephone therapy appointment talking about the love and wisdom I get here for at least 30 minutes.

I'm so glad we feel gratitude for eachother. Believe me, its a 2-way street.

I got my car back 2 days ago and was able to pay most of it from the GoFundMe my sister set up. I can't express my gratitude personally because so many donations were anonymous. I always make small donations anonymously to GFM campaigns that cross my path. There are so many wonderful people who donate.

Even better than money are comments of encouragement people take the time to share. Giving is truly as beautiful as receiving.

I'm crawling out of the depression a little at a time. I'm working on making beads, drawings and paintings. I'm cutting myself slack on spring cleaning, getting stuff done, sorting and disposing, making progress. As bad as I felt as a crime victim, I remind myself that I'm a survivor, and reaching out to help others quietly and privately.

Love makes the world go around. That's what I believe, and it makes me smile.

Thanks for taking the time to send me a little love. You're a very special person and your friends and family are lucky to have you. :)

Diane, so glad you have your car back and grateful that donations helped you make it possible. You ARE a survivor and a great inspiration too! I'm glad you have hobbies to keep you busy, they can be so relaxing. I'm starting to get back into some of my crafts again, or at least I am trying to but may have to put it on hold for a while. The senior group just started having meetings again here so I just joined. I might attend the knitting/crochet group. My granddaughter does some really great drawings. I keep encouraging her to keep at it as it is a good distraction when one's life presents itself as a challenge.
