Well they discharged me out of the hospital the nest day (less than 24 hrs after surgery) By the time I got home I truly thought I was going to die due to the pain I was in. Most of it was gas pain that finally became tolerable after several hours. I am still very sore but I am assuming this is just part of the routine. The hardest part seems to be my drain that I cannot get out until my appointment Wednesday. I am being told to walk walk walk and I am being told to rest rest rest. I don't want to over do it and make things worse. Any suggestions?

Hi Smiles, I had my surgery on June 24, 2015. Congratulations on you getting you surgery. Great decision. Yes do get plenty of rest. Every time you have to use the restroom take your walks. Make sure to get plenty of water in. Sip chicken and beef broth, jello. Sounds like you're doing very well. Get plenty of fluids. Good luck to you.

Thank you for responding Nisey. So happy to hear from you! Does Jello and broth count as my liquids? I thought that was only for my "meals"?

Gas can be quite painful. I was very lucky not to have gas pains in my stomach at all. The gas pumped in from the operation rises inside your body and most people get shoulder pain as the gas tries to exit the body. I did have shoulder pain for a few days. Alot of people do get severe gas pains in their tummy.

You want to walk around enough so you don't get blood clots but you want to rest enough so your body can heal. I didn't do alot of walking at first but I did do leg exercises quite a bit to keep my blood circulating.

I think jello counts as a liquid but I don't think broth counts, it's a food.

Everyday you should feel better and better. Always take your vitamins and supplements.

Good luck,

Cheyenne

Yes broth and Jello both count as liquids. Be sure to get in as much water as you can as well. Good luck Smiles :)
