Hair after surgery

Hi Miss! Unfortunately, it is a common occurrence that after you have bariatric surgery you could lose some hair. Some people say it is because of the trauma your body went through with the surgery and others say it is because of the lack of protein and nutrients in the beginning. Whatever the reason, it happens. You can certainly do a search for "hair loss" to find posts regarding it (I know there are many!) to see what people are doing for it. I know people have tried different shampoos, vitamins, etc. All to no avail. So I hate to disappoint but it seems that this is something you just have to get used to. But as you will see when you do the search, the individuals who have gone through this still wouldn't have made a different choice. Losing a bit of hair while getting healthier seems to be worth it. I am just hitting the point where some of mine is starting to fall out. I knew this going in and I have been prepared for it, but it is hard to handle while it is happening. Yet I wouldn't change my decision for anything Good luck and by all means, let us know if you find anything that helps!

Thanks, it maybe from not enough protein I know I don't get nearly enough as it stands right now because I had a lot of trouble eating meet when it came time for me to start my solids and I still have trouble with Meats I've been trying to find more creative ways to get protein so hopefully more protein will help my hair stop thinning out thanks for your advice

Hi ladies,

I went to my stylist today for a cut and low-light. She doesn't know that I've had surgery, just that I'm on the right side of the diet yo-yo. She asked me if I started any new vitamins (I have not) so I asked why. She proceeded to point out all this half-inch to inch-long hair regrowth happening. She parted my hair every which way and showed me that it's coming in all over so that was great news! My loss wasn't noticeable to anyone but me but the regrowth was nice to see. She said many of her postpartum clients loose a lot of hair then experience regrowth at once like this. I'm 8 months post-op so if you're like me, that's when it will start coming back in. :)
