I'm in the beginning stages of the whole surgery process. I lost 110 lbs. on my own about 10 yrs. ago and kept it off since. (Still weigh in at 240). I regularly gain about 10 - 15 pounds over winter and lose it again in Spring through Summer. I've also been diabetic for about 10 years. I started taking insulin 5 months ago and quickly gained 25 pounds. (A Lantus side effect). I'm 61 yrs old and tired of fighting everything. In addition, I have arthritis, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol and I feel I need the surgery at this point. I've had time to think it all over and I've decided to just do it. My insurance will cover the cost which is a blessing all on it's own. I've had several surgeries in the past and healed well from all of them except one. I had a total knee replacement 1 year ago and the healing process involved was horrible. The post surgery pain was beyond words but I got through it. Long story short, I was wondering if any one has heard of issues with hair loss after weight loss surgery? I didn't lose any hair with any of my other surgeries, (2 back surgeries, appendectomy, knee scope, total knee replacement, and major skin removal from my abdomen.) I did have an issue with it after my son was born. I checked into it and found out it was a common issue post pregnancy. Any input on this will be greatly appreciated!
