Hello! I had gastric sleeve surgery in December & everything has been great. My only concern is the amount of hair loss I’ve been experiencing.

I knew to expect it - I just didn’t expect this much (I feel like I’ve lost 25% of my hair so far). After every shower I had a huge ball of hair that fell out and I have to clean my hairbrush every few days. I went to my dermatologist 2 weeks ago and mentioned it to him. He gave me a 2% Ketoconazole shampoo with instructions to use it 3x a week. I used my shampoo for the 3rd time the other day and I think I only lost about 5 hairs in the shower!

My doc said the 1% is sold over the counter, but you may want to get a prescription for the higher potency.

I also experienced hair loss. My hair has always been thin but my part kept getting wider and areas of my scalp started standing out. I tried over the counter minoxidil and other topical solutions, biotin pills and special shampoos. Nothing seemed to work but I started taking prescription minoxidil about 6 months ago and it made a huge difference!

My doc also prescribed me the Minoxidil after my post and have been taking it for about 2 weeks. Can’t wait for it to kick in!
