Hi all! I am almost 4 months post op (lap gastric sleeve 3/9/20) and I am down 70lbs. For the last 3-4 weeks I have been losing all my hair! I understand that the weight loss will put me in a catabolic state and cause hair loss of course but does it stop and will it get back to where it was in thickness? I’m loosing so much each day I will be bald soon lol. I added biotin to my vitamin regime but did anyone use anything else that helped????

I have long hair I’m six months out and my hair is just shedding like a dog Not noticeable though I’ve been using Biotin shampoo and conditioner for the past six months too so maybe that’s helped

I lost a lot too, but I started using Olaplex No 4 & 5 and had it cut to around shoulder length. Now at just over a year out, it’s quite thick and healthy again! I also take biotin daily. I got all of these from Amazon. So don’t lose hope

My cousin had the sleeve in December and she’s losing hair like crazy too. She had long hair and cut it shoulder length and is keeping it down as much as she can since tying hair back can put more stress on the hair strands. I’m still preop, so the only hair loss experience I’ve had so far was after my pregnancies.

I'm 5th month out from sleeve, and feel like I'm losing my hair now finally. Everyone says it grows back, so I'm hopeful.

I was losing hair by the handful for about 3 weeks, then it slowed down and now I think it has stopped. I'm not sure it's growing back, but it's not getting any thinner!

I am 5 weeks post op bypass. No hair loss yet. But the Dr. did tell me I would need to take in 60-70 grams of protein per day to prevent hair loss. It's so difficult to take in that much protein, even with shakes. Any ideas?

It will slow down and come back... I started losing about 3.5 months in huge amounts, but thankfully I have thick hair, so no bald spots came up. The losing phase lasted maybe 6 to 8 weeks, and it has been growing back steadily since.

I am certainly praying hard for very LITTLE hair loss. I have very thin hair to begin with, even with taking Biotin every day for over the past 2 years. I really don't want to end up bald, even if it is only for a little while. Then again, I am sure that I will decide that the baldness will be worth it in the end.

My endocrinologist has asked me to not take biotin supplements as it can interfere with accurate thyroid levels. And since I have Hashimoto, it’s important to have blood work as accurate as possible.

There's supposed to be a bunch of different remedies for hair loss I haven't found them yet I'm at the 4/ 5 month post op And it has started coming out. Glad I have thick hair but I was ready to cry when I saw how much came out.

I had long red hair coming out everywhere. I cut it to shoulder length. My hair is not falling out as much anymore. But the hair is growing out and still falling out. Can't wait to have it long again...

I'm 12 yrs post RNY. I lost a lot of hair the 1st year. I did find that once you increase the amount of protein it comes back ok. I recently gained some weight back due to tons of stress. When l saw 156lbs on the scale that was the final straw. So l have been trying to eat only when lm truly hungry and have been losing steadily for a month or so, but my hair is really thinning AND lol l will be 59 next month. So l will google the Olapex and see what happens. Hopefully it will help regardless of age. Ugh....l am down to 142 lbs and what a difference 14 lbs makes at this weight compared to when l weighed 210lbs.

Yes it happened to me after my first surgery. Biotin helped but it lasted a couple months.

Bill, my thick hair is thinning out to the point of my wife noticed my scalp is starting to show through! 7 1/2 months out. I hope it reverses soon!

Well my hair is pretty thin and I just had it cut a couple of days ago and I’m still shedding but it looks ok.i was going to the gym 3 times a week until Monday when the governor shut almost everything down Again including gyms so my personal trainer has been helping workout on Facetime. I have only 17 more pounds to lose so I guess I’m doing pretty good . Oh yeah Diane I finally bought a brand new st of drums as you might be able to see in the background from my updated picture . Bought them with my casino money and I still have a lot left even though it cost me a lot of money.

it's temporary - mine lasted about three months. And it'll grow back. There are supposedly a lot of "remedies" out there, but there's really not much you can do about it - most of them don't really work all that well. I didn't lose very much, so I doubt anyone noticed it.
