Hands swell after eating?

I wonder if this happens to anyone else. After I eat about 4 or 5 mouthfuls I feel full and stop. Within about an hour my hands turn red and swell slightly and my sinuses become stuffy. It doesn't matter what I eat so it is not an allergy. My doctor says he has never seen this before and can't explain it. This is painful and scary. Does anyone know whats happening to me?

Could it be something in the food prep? Like salt or some spice or oil or something that you cook with each time? Can you try listing what food, spice, etc is in each meal, then tracking your physical reactions at what time & intensity after each meal for a week or two and see if there is any recurring element.

Hands swell

I use very little salt or pepper and nothing else on my food. It has been suggested that I have some sort of infection that does not show up in a standard blood test. Have you ever heard of this?

My son and a few of his coworkers get stuffy noses after eating. Their nasal passages actually swell. We know this because Motrin will reduce the stuffiness but nose spray won't. He thinks it has something to do with circulation. I'm wondering if it is scent? It is a puzzle. Let us know if you find out. I personally would seek the advice of an allergist.

Ok I used google and bing and put in the key words "hands swell after eating bariatric surgery" well the answers coming up are too much sodium, high blood pressure. One bariatric patient said her hands and feet both swell up after eating. You may not put too much salt on your food but some foods have tons of sodium in them when you buy them. I know when I buy and eat rotisserie chicken already cooked, my lips are salty. Look up what your daily sodium intake should be then look at all your packages of food and see if you are on target. Just for now I wouldn't add any extra salt. Its worth a try. Good luck!
