Well, you know Mother's Day is just a Hallmark holiday, made to sell greeting cards. I think that for most of us whether we are sons or daughters or mothers, there is a sense of Mother's Day everyday. It's impossible to avoid thinking about your mother on any given day.

I left a message on my son's phone this morning reminding him that it was Mother's Day and telling him I was in his neighborhood and could swing by if he wanted to wish me happy Mother's Day. That's kind of sad isn't it. Anyway I didn't stop by because I didn't get a reply but he just phoned me about a half hour ago and we reminisced Like a mother and a son.

This will always be one of my favorite photos and I think I just posted it the other day so apologies to anyone who has to see it twice. It says my kid and I at 6000 feet in a field of blueberries that was Acres large and perfectly ripe. You just held your hand under a clump of blueberries, and then reached up and they fell into your hands and subsequently to your mouth.

Here’s the actual origin of Mother’s Day, not originally a commercial holiday. While a day originally set aside for mother’s and their children created by an unwed, motherless woman, Anna Jarvis, hated when it became a national holiday due to the commercialization.
