Having surgery 09/14/21

Hi, I’m new here. I’m 59. I had The Gastric Sleeve in 2013. However, I didn’t do so well on it. I think I’m more prepared this time. I’m on the pre-surgery diet with Gastric Sleeve surgery on September 14, 2021. Most of the time, it hasn’t been too bad. I lowered the amount of carbs that I was eating three days prior to starting. It was my way of preparing myself for the diet. I’m glad I did. There have only been a few times when the cravings have been intense. Today, day 5 has been a bit harder. But, I’m trying to keep busy. Unfortunately, I’m low on energy. So, the chores I’d like to accomplish prior to surgery haven’t been finished. It’s been a long, slow process.

Welcome to the group. Does that say that you had the sleeve and you're again having the sleeve? I ask, because I have heard of people going from lap band to sleeve and from sleeve to bypass but I did not know you could do a second sleeve surgery. Your date will be here before you know it. Good luck.

Hi Gurden,
This is a great group that will help you along with the emotional support that we all need. I think group gives back what we put in, so I hope we hear from you. Your surgery is next week! Maybe once you are done and recovered a little you can finish up some of the chores, it will give you something to keep you busy. I know I finally was able to tackle my yard work (I am the yard guy, we say something different down here but I am that person, I do it all). Now I am glad I did the chores, it seems like the time was more productive when I looked back at post op and got the nice feeling that things were done and in order. I was 64 when I had my sleeve last fall. Keep us posted and all the best to you, it is going to be fantastic transformation for you. For all the times I was miserable, I am glad I lost the weight and it is GONE GONE BUH BYE hopefully never to be seen again.
For once I am happy with my body, uhhhh oh maybe that small roll above the waistband isn't great but trying for 5lbs more to take the small spare tire off.

Strangely, I already have a little bit of energy. Today is the first day that I haven’t felt lethargic off and on throughout the day. I was able to get some cleaning done. I hope that it continues to get better. I am so hopeful about my upcoming surgery.

Welcome you have found a great place for support and encouragement. I like that the door is 24/7. Diane sorry to hear about the insomnia thing. Think it must be something in the air husband has had the issue for a while and the last couple of days I have had stress and sleep was very light, feels as if I didn’t sleep at all. To Gurden May you recovery be steady and productive. Before you know it you will be posting achievements with the rest of us.

Welcome to your new life! It will be tough for a few days, then it gets worse for a week or so. Then you will notice that you are feeling better, the weight is coming off and as you are able to add foods you will realize that life is getting better. Hang in there and stick with the plan and look here for support.
