Having trouble losing weight

Hello I'm new, I just had gastric bypass surgery on October 1, from that day to today I've lost 11 pounds, I don't know what I'm doing wrong, I am having a hard time drinking all my fluids, but I'm not that far off, just seems slow moving please help

I don't go see him until the 24, so I don't know, I've had no problems so I've had no need to call, my pain was easy, I'm sore but not enough to need Meds, I'm eating soft foods now, that seems to be going well, I know when I'm full, I did over eat once and had chest pains for about 15 minutes so I know my limits now, I just feel it's going slow

I think you're doing great! I haven't had my surgery yet so I can't speak from experience. I hope I do as we'll as you're doing!

I'm sure you will do great, just remember after your surgery and they let you walk do it as much as possible, the more you walk the better you feel, I was only in 24 hours after my surgery, the doctor said I was speedy Gonzales and I didn't need to stay the extra day , everyones pain tolerance is different, if you have had any abdominal surgery before you can expect that type of pain, I wish you luck with your surgery..

Thanks! I had 3 c-sections. I know how moving around helps. It was a long time ago, my youngest is almost 24. And I weigh 120lbs more than my heaviest baby weight! I hope I have an experience like you!

Take care and keep doing what you're doing, cause it sounds great!

Make sure you are not drinking water with your food because it pushes it down too fast. a pound a day seems good to me, 3 mos 30 pounds, 12 mos 120 pounds OH YEAH!! Tell you doc when you see him/her your concerns and see if that was their expectation. How much weight do you want to lose? Remember you lose about 60% of that and the rest is on you. Hang in, be grateful you did not suffer ill effects and did well post op!!!

I will be asking my doctor n Wednesday, I don't drink while I eat , I'm glad my post op is going so smooth knock on wood, I do have a hard time reaching my fluid intake so I'm gonna revamp how I drink so I can reach my goal, thanks for the input

IS there a Nutritionist on our team you could call before next Wednesday? I would not rearrange stuff without talking to the Nutritionist. They can help you with the questions about weight loss also.

Susie-Nothing wrong with the amount of weight you have lost so far so I don't think you are doing anything wrong. You're probably eating or drinking proteins by now. Try to get at least 60 grams daily as this will promote weight loss. Ounce for ounce the protein drinks count towards your fluid intake so this is a good way to get your protein and fluids at the same time :) It does take a little time to be able to get 60 grams of protein and 64 ounces of fluids daily but you need to try.

Susie q,

You are right on track and doing great at almost a pound a day. Just remember you didn't even gain it at a pound a day. You don't want to lose it much faster than that. My doc expects 100 pounds in a year although some still do better than that. They are the young ones (ROFL), not old ladies like me.

That must have been the problem, not enough protein or fluids, I really pushed to meet my goal and stepped on the scales and I'm down a pound , thanks everyone have a great day :)
