Hellloo everyone!

I am new here! I just started my journey with a seminar and my first visit to the Doctor. I am exicited to find out that it only takes 3 months, with dr visits and etc to get approved and I am hoping that this helps change my horrible food relationship! Any suggestions to help me get prepared? I like most have some medical issues that make exercise very difficult, and of course my weight doesn't help. But that being said I would love some advice on things that would make my journey better!

hi gigibieverhausen4

wow you are lucky that where you live it only takes 3 months, I started my journey in Jan, had all my test and see surgeon for first time next week, and I've already been told he is booked up for may surgeries and already working on filling up junes date.
there are up's and downs with all the test and the "WAITING GAME", yikes.I have been excited anxious and now just a bet annoyed and how long it's taking. but it took me years to get to this horrible size so I can't blame them for it taking so long to get everything done, I must remember there are alot of patients ahead of me.
I remember getting excited in Jan when I got the application acceptance and then fnding out the seminar's were full til feb. and had all my test completed by early march & then told oh you can't see surgeon to early May. big zap of"let down" but I know I must hold on for my future is looking brighter cause each day I am getting a little closer to my "dreams comming true" i'll have a "TOOL" with the wl surgery to help me to continue on and have a healtheir life forever no turning back now. I want this too badly.
I wish you much success with your journey and hopefully your's goes smoother and much faster than mine has. But the end results are gonna be worth it all, according to so many others on her whom have had there's done and are very successfull with there new lifestyle.
take care
donna

hi gigibieverhausen4
You made a good decision joining the forum. I only had a 3 month weight, I have been approved now just waiting for the 2nd consult, the surgery date is tentatively set for May 22. Follow all the instructions that your surgeon and his staff gives you. Don't gulp your drinks, take small sips, try some protein drinks now before your surgery so you can get an idea of what tastes good to you. Some things that may taste good now, may not later. Don't be afraid to ask questions on here, if you are uncomfortable about a certain topic, you can always private message someone and chat. That is what I have been doing too. Good luck and keep us posted.

Hi Gigi, Welcome. I dont have much to add except if you drink soda pop be it diet or regular start weening your self off of it, I don't want to scare you away but carbonatet beverages are a BIG NONO after WLS. It has been a wonderful journey for me. There are a great group of folks here to help you on your journey. Tom

Welcome, you will love thsi forum! Of course, follow your docs orders and nutritionist advice, that is first and foremost. Personally, I have an 18 point checklist with the nutritionist that has to be checked off before I can proceed to the next step, including sticking to a 1200 cal diet, drinking 64 oz. of water, taking citamins, getting enough protein, exercising, chewing my food and taking 20-30 min per meal, getting lots of fruits and veggies per day, limiting fats, etc. So much to work on but figure it will be worth it in the end!

Take care,
Jessica
