Ugh. Surgery was this past Thursday on 06/06/19. Was on clear liquids 3 days preop and now back on it until Friday 06/14. Then advance to full liquids. I think the diet is the hardest part of the surgery. I was hoping that I wouldn’t want to eat for at least a week or two. I’m so sick of broth, popcicles and jello that I gag. . How’s it going for any of you newbies and hey, from the rookies too

Only 9 weeks after surgery and all of it is a distant memory. No regrets!

My surgery was on March 11th so it'll be 3 months tomorrow. I agree with ttyson, I barely remember the clear liquid phase now. My advice would be to allow yourself to sleep as much as you can so you can't think about food. Your body needs lots of rest to heal so it'll thank you. Just keep hydrated, that's all you really need now. Since the "food" choices don't appeal to you, don't even bother eating.

Oh man i hear you, i came to the point that no one could even say the word broth and id be nausiated. But hang in there, you will get thru it until the next phase, you will prevail!

I wonder how the liquid diet was going to be like? I hope I can get though that too. I have to tell myself it will benefit me at the end.

The liquid diet is so important. Before surgery a liquid diet cleans you out and shrinks your liver , both help your surgeon visualize your organs and the liquid diet after surgery is because your pouch or sleeve isnt ready for solid foods. It must heal some.
