Hello everyone,
I am a 54-year-old mother and grandmother that wants to be healthier for all her babies.
I just had my first nutritional appointment on June 24th. All of the information looks fine to me. My struggle is going to be the smoking and my coffee. I drink a lot of coffee, but I am decreasing a little at a time and supplementing decaf for the habit of just having coffee. Smoking... I am trying cold turkey; it needs to be done surgery or not. I had dental surgery last year and ate soft foods for 6 months. I know that this is not exactly the same, but it was not so bad, so I had a little practice, I guess. My doctor is looking for an early September surgery date once my check list is complete. I am getting married in November and I am not doing this for the wedding, but it is added motivation. Just a little stress of last-minute dress shopping but totally worth it.
Happy to receive any tips and would enjoy chatting with someone who is starting out right now as well.

Welcome! It sounds like you're off to a great start. Wanting to be healthier for your children and grandchildren is great motivation, and it sounds like you have a lot of exciting things to look forward to.

Cutting back on coffee and quitting smoking are both big changes, but you are approaching them with a realistic mindset and a solid plan. I also think your experience of eating soft foods for six months after dental surgery will help since you've already proven to yourself that you can follow major dietary changes when needed.

And congratulations on your upcoming wedding! Between improving your health, preparing for surgery, and getting married, this sounds like an exciting chapter in your life. Hopefully the dress shopping ends up being the hardest part of the whole process!
