Hello! Not really new to WLS I've had my band since 11/10. Long story short, I hit a rough patch and have basically restarted my weight loss journey. Trying to gain as much support and motivation I can. First time to any forum for me. Thanks!;)

Hi Tracey, welcome to the forum. Are you considering other surgical options, or continuing with the band?
The people in this forum are nice and helpful, and I'm pretty sure you can ask just about anything and they will attempt to answer, or steer you in the right direction.

Tracey-Welcome aboard. You will find this forum very friendly and helpful. A lot of the forum members find that attending live support groups is also very helpful. I hate to say this but I've never been to a live support meeting :( My intent is to start going but I keep procrastinating. There are a couple of lapbanders in the forum and a lot of people with RNY's but no matter which surgery we had we can still help each other.

Welcome Tracey. I am glad you are reaching out for support. I have not been a member here long, but have gotten tremendous support. No judgement here just a lot of knowledge and support. By sharing your story you not only help yourself, but others as well. Keep coming back.

Hi Tracey, Welcome. Your getting close to two years out, are you still seeing you WLS doctors for follow ups? I have the RnY but I have a few friends with the Lap Band they are doing good, it seems that you guys can eat more of the things we can't so I imagine that may make it more difficult at times. We are all here to support each other so make sure to let us know how you are doing. I take it you got off track a little so just get back to the basics and start watching your calorie and protien intake and if you can get out and get some exercise at least 35 minutes a day and that will really help. Tom

Hi Tracey,

I also have a lapband. My question would be "when did you have your last fill". Maybe you need to consider having your surgeon do one to get you started on the right track again. This forum is a good place for information and support. Good luck and keep us posted. Joy

Thank you all for your replies. Just a bit more about me, I had fluid taken out of my band twice, October and in June. I was having trouble keeping fluids down. My nurse practitioner attributes alot of it to stress. I had to give myself a break physically and mentally... so in other words... I fell off the wagon:( I have mustered up the courage and the willpower to go and get fluid put back in my band... yesterday as a matter of fact. Was good to see my NP and feel like was active again in my fight against my weight. Back on track with atleast 64 ounces of water a day... and I surprised myself. Went to the gym and actually was able to do 30 min on the eliptical machine AND a round of weights... I appreciate all your comments and advice... I CAN DO THIS :)

It is the most common gastric bypass, however more and more people are getting the gastic sleeve which is simmilar but it does not have the malabsorbtion issues. Somr insurance companies still don't cover the sleeve yet so for some like me it was a band or RnY, there is information on the home page somwhere here about all three prpceedures. Tom

Oh, ok.. thanks. I have two coworkers who have had the bypass, both are having malabsorbtion issues. Thats the main reason I got the band, that and it's something I still have control over. Thanks for the info:)

The malabsorbtion has not been a problem for me so far, I take all my vitamins that the doctor has asked me to at the proper dose and my labs look pretty good, but some people do have problems getting them up to the right levels and keeping them there. Tom
