Hello

I just had my last visit with the surgeon and my pre-ops at the hospital. My Gastric Bypass is scheduled for March 26, 2020. Yes, I'm on a clear liquid diet for the past few days and boy is it hard. I would love to read other people's experiences from this point and after surgery. I'm a little nervous.

Hi Mary I had the bypass last November and it had its ups and downs .You might have pain in your stomach because of the air they pump into you I did a little. And yeah you’ll get tired of the liquid diet . I did but hang in there it gets better as you go along . Keep drinking water and walking is the best advice I can give you. If you want to know about what it’s like in the hospital I suggest look at Brendas hospital stay n the resources.

Thank you, I'm glad you are doing good. I will go read that post.

I had gastric bypass on March 2 2020. Surgery and recovery have been uneventful. I had very little pain, no nausea. I was on a liquid diet for 3 weeks before (optifast), one week of clear liquids post op and 3 weeks of full fluids. I can eat soft foods on March 30 2020. My advice is to keep sipping fluids and moving. I am in isolation with this covid19 with my family. My biggest challenge thus far is missing food. It’s something my family is enjoying now that everyone is home and hard to avoid under these circumstances. It’s all mental because I am not hungry. I’ve been on a liquid diet for 5.5 weeks now which is a bit challenging.

I wish you all the best on your upcoming surgery!!

I'm so glad you are doing well after surgery. I can only imagine how hard it is for you to be in a house full of food. That is my problem right now, is everyone is on Home Safe here in Illinois and they are snacking and eating all the time. I'm on the clear liquid diet now, I have just completed my first week started my second week as my surgery is Thursday. My biggest fear is that I'm doing all this prep and come Monday they will cancel the surgery because of the Covid19 and I'll have to do it again once they reschedule it. Keeping my fingers crossed that it doesn't get canceled. Thank you so much for sharing your story. I was a little worried about the pain afterward, but I can handle some pain. I knew walking was a big part of the healing.

Wish you all the success!!!!!

Fingers crossed! I hope you were able to have surgery as scheduled and all is well. The liquid diet feels like an eternity! I understand completely!
