Hello

Hi, I’m Gina from Upstate NY. Had gastric bypass surgery in August. Best decision I ever made. I lost about 75 pounds, feel great, have tons of energy.
I’ve been enjoying reading your posts. This looks like a nice place to connect with other people who have had the surgery. So...I decided to join. It’s nice to meet you.

another voice with different experiences always welcome. the site is awesome for questions and information. And just sharing daily stuff, recipes, exercises, pictures, and even struggles. Very good place. I had RNY On February 15, so I am still at the early stages of my journey. Be fun, stay safe.

Hi Gina! Congrats on you successes! Got any advice for those of us line for gastric bypass? I’m gathering all the tips and experiences I can to prepare. They are working through the backlog at my hospital and I know my turn will be soon. I wish you the best on your continued journey!

Welcome Gina and congratulations on your weight loss. I also live in upstate NY. Where did you have your surgery?
I had my surgery at the Hudson Valley Hospital. It used to be called Peekskill Hospital. I was home the next day. Too soon, but they give you the bums rush these days. I was glad to get home to my own bed though. Also, I was afraid of getting Covid so it was okay.

My advice would be get up and walk as often as possible, start exercise as soon as your Dr. says it’s okay, eat slow and enjoy your food. I enjoy the small amount I eat now way more than the mountains of food I shoveled down when I was heavy. Now I actually taste it and experience it. If I eat too fast I get dumping syndrome so I have no choice.

Hi, welcome to the group! I'm a fellow New Yorker from Orange County. Congrats on your surgery and losing 75 lbs!
It’s up to 82 now! But I seem to have hit another plateau. That happens to me from time to time and nothing I do seems to help. I have tried increasing my exercise and eating less, ....doesn’t work. Then suddenly I start losing again. I guess I need to be patient.

Thank you for the tips! I will definitely add this to my book.
