:(:( I am new to this so please bare with me. I had my surgery 3yrs ago. I went from 250 to 170. But this last year I have gained back 30lbs!! I am not sure how to get back on track. Its like I have forgotten how to eat what I am suppose to, and am going back to my old habits.

Welcome to the forum. There is this thing called the 5 day pouch test that a lot of people use to get back on track. Try searching this forum in the articles section and you should find information there. Or you could do an Internet search for it. Let me know if you can't find it and I will help locate the information.

Also, it would help if you could find the information you were given by the surgeon or nutritionist regarding eating after surgery. Review it to refresh your memory about which type of foods you should be eating to promote weight loss and to maintain your goal weight. You can always call the surgeon's office to request another copy. Your focus should be on at least 60 grams of protein and a minimum of 64 ounces of non-carbonated sugar free beverages each day. Stay away from carbs, fat and sugar. Also attending support groups will be very helpful because you can interact with people who are going through the exact same thing you are. Make sure to come back to the forum to let us know how you are doing.

welcome whitewolf
hi I agree with Pat, about the 5 day pouch diet I've read about it on this site, I haven't had my surgery yet but I 've heard alot of people talk about gaining weight back after a year or so, I quess it's just like before the surgery, if we don't eat the protein and eat other foods the weight will come back.at least you realize what is happening and you are ready to address those issues for you know how far you've already came, don't give up , the surgery they say is a "tool" to help us loose weight and it's up to us to get the most out of the surgery. that is one of my biggest concerns , loosing the weight and then it comming back later/ food is the one thing everyone likes to eat, I know it's hard to walk away from food deal with those issues daily. this site has so many wonderful articles and people who'll share there experiences too, you're not alone alot of others have faced same issues, one bite at a time, you'll get those pounds off and get to your goal, you're still 50 pounds lighter now. I've done the same thing loose the weight and keep it off for awhile and bamb before you know it , pounds are back, I've read the protein is the biggest issue and seems to be the key to keeping the pounds away.there's always HOPE,give yourself credit for what you've accomplished and what you're going to do to reach your goal, nothing is impossible.

Hi Whitewolf, Welcome, I don't have much to add to what has already been said, the 5 day pouch test is the way to go, follow the link- http://www.americanbariatrics.org/content.php/80-Roux-en-Y-Gastric-Bypass-5-Day-Pouch-Test

The WLS is just a tool and we will have it for the rest of our lives, you have done this before so you can do it again, it will not be fast or easy but the weight didn't come on overnight either. Handg in there you can do this again but this time you don't have as much to lose. Tom
