WELCOME to the Forum, Barbry!

I don't know a lot about the lap band except many people have problems with it. Have you had yours adjusted lately? Sometimes they loosen up, so I have been told. With any of the weight loss surgeries, it's best to eat a high protein diet with limited carbs and fats. Also meals should be small but you should feel full if your band is adjusted properly so you have a very small pouch. There are a couple people on this forum who have had the lapband, they could probably help you more than I can. I do think no matter which surgery you have, it's all in what you eat. Most people keep their calories at about 800 maximum a day. Again, lots of protein and minimum carbs is the key to success.

Good Luck,

Cheyenne

Thanks for the advise and reminders. It has been so many years now,( about 5) that I have let a lot of things slip. I stopped counting calories and most of all...have been snacking late at night. It has been soooo hard for me not to snack late at night. I know I need more discipline. I used to keep a journal of everything I ate. Think I will find that journal.
Thanks again, Barbry

Barbry I had the same problem and I went back to see the doctor and we talked about the sleeve. On Aug. 26th I had the band removed and had the sleeve done and I have lost 20 lb. in 2 weeks . It was the best thing I ever had done. The band made me sick and everything came back up, I was told there was a lot of people who complained that the band didn't work like they thought on some people. Do the sleeve you won't be sorry.

I also keep a journal of what I eat and drink it is my Bible. I don't feel like snacking anymore because I don't feel the need to eat at all which is different for me, I was always hungry with the band , but not now I have to remind myself to eat.

Just to let you know I have had the lap bad for 3 years

thanks for your input

Just to let you know I have had the lap bad for 3 years
I have had my lapband for about three years. If I remember right, I just slid under the cutoff age limit...I think because I was relatively healthy and would like to say I remain that way though I am now 72 years old...I just wonder if I would still be eligible for further bariatric surgery. I think I will return to clinic. I don't know anything about sleeve surgery. Some of my eating issues are...a big sweet tooth though I still try to keep to low sugar and low carb diet, my portions could be smaller and a big problem is night time snacking. Boy, I sure hate to think I'd give up, but I am dangerously close. I need more aerobic exercise but my husband and I still enjoy sailing and kayaking...winter sports are not so easy for me...maybe I just need to be pushed a little.
